Quote on mind

Volumes have been written on the human mind. What does it mean? How does it work? etc. But, for all practical purposes, we know that our thought is our mind. Our thoughts are the building blocks of our life. Our thought determines what we are, and what we shall be in the future..

Our mind has two parts:-

1. Conscious mind, 2. Unconscious mind.

Our mind is like an iceberg in the ocean. We know that out of ten, only one part of the iceberg is visible and nine tenth of it is under water. Similarly, the large part of our mind known as the subconscious is hidden from our conscious mind. Only a very small part of it is known to us. This is our conscious mind.

There is a great secret in it. This small part - the conscious mind, can control and mould the whole of the unconscious mind. All saints and sages of the world have proved this fact. They tell that what we think intensely and constantly for a sufficiently long time, enters into our conscious mind and makes the necessary changes. What our unconscious mind accepts, that we feel and what we feel, that we become. If you feel like Buddha, you become Buddha. If you feel like Christ, you shall become Christ.

Thus, we find that our thoughts make or mar our life. Our mind is our greatest friend and greatest enemy also. It is the cause of our bondage as well as our liberation....

The Boy Who Wanted To Meet God

There once was a little boy who wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer, and he started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park, staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry,so he offered her a Twinkie. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Once again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted. They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, yet they never said a word.

As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave. Before he had gone more than a few steps,he turned around, ran back to the old woman and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own home a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face.

She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy? He replied, "I had lunch with God."But before his mother could respond, he added,"You know what? She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"

Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her neighbor was stunned by the look of peace on her face, and she asked,"What did you do today that made you so happy?" She replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." But before her neighbor responded, she added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Will someone see God in your smile or kind deeds? Maybe they're not even looking for God, but may see Him in the kindness you show.

Isn't that what we're here for?

It might be a stranger, someone you work with, a family member or friend. Let them see God in you. Show His love in all you do.There once was a little boy who wanted to meet God. YOUR LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT'S A REFLECTION OF YOU!

"A son and his father were walking on the mountains. Suddenly, his son
falls, hurts himself and screams: "AAhh!!" To his surprise, he hears the
voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain: "AAhh!!"

Curious, he yells: "Who are you?"
He receives the answer: "Who are you?"
And then he screams to the mountain: "I admire you!"
The voice answers: "I admire you!"
Angered at the response, he screams: "Coward!"
He receives the answer: "Coward!"
He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?"
The father smiles and says: "My son, pay attention."
Again the man screams: "You are a champion!"
The voice answers: "You are a champion!"
The boy is surprised, but does not understand.

Then the father explains: "People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE.
It gives you back everything you say or do.

Have Faith in yourself first

Let people say whatever they like ,

stick to your own convictions, and rest assured ,

the world will be at your feet.

They say , " Have faith in this fellow or that fellow,"

But we have to Say, " HAVE FAITH IN YOURSELF FIRST". that's the way.

Rough road makes you strong

The road is good is the roughest and steepest in the universe.

It is a wonder that so many succeed,

no wonder that so many fall.

Character has to be established through a thousand stumbles...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anything that makes you weak physically.

intellectually and spiritually,

reject as poison; there is no life in it, it cannot be true.

These mysticisms, in spite of some grains of truth in them,

are generally weakening.....

Work is Worship

The Supreme Soul from Whom has this whole of universe originated & because of Whom is it existing, by worshipping Him with ones day-to-day jobs & activities, one can attain the supreme state.

(Shrimad Bhagvad Geeta: 18.46)

Anybody, may be a very affluent or a poor person, can reach the ultimate state of suprem bliss, by offering the flowers of daily chores to the omnipresent God.

There is a well named 'Pisajhari Kuan' in the middle of the road going from Munger to Bhagalpur in Bihar, India.

A 13 year old girl called 'Shyamo' got married. Her husband died a year after her marriage. She became a widow at the young age of 14. Shyamo thought that it is not wise to become an escapist, materialistic & lazy. She made her parents understand her feelings & she started leading a pious & pure life.

Shyamo's parents were very poor. She used to get up early in the morning & earn some money by making flour using grind-stone. Then, she used to take her bath and pray to God & sing praises of His holy name. After that she used to again sit down to make thread using the spin-wheel. If somebody wanted to get food prepared, then she used to do that also. The whole day she used to keep herself busy working with full sincerity & diligence. As a result she used to get sound sleep in the night & easily she was able to concentrate for the short duration she used to pray. As this routine continued, one day Shyamo observed that all those who travel on Munger-Bhagalpur road feel very thirsty. Not only did she earn her living by making flour, thread & cooking, but she also donated all her life-long savings to construct a well for the travellers.

Even today that 'Pakka Kuan' (constructed well) located on the Munger-Bhagalpur road denotes Shyamo's sacrifice, austerity, goodwill and dedication & zeal towards work.

No matter how adverse the circumstances be, if one continues to work diligently without losing faith & hope, then his duties take the form of worship. The peace & contentment experienced by a devotee or a Yogi, the same happiness & peace is evolved in the heart of the one who does his duties with the aim of pleasing God.

Even though Shyamo became a widow at a very young age, she did not let her life get misled, dedicatedly she did her jobs practising self-control, purity in action & pleasing behaviour. That is the reason that even if her body is not existing in this world, but the songs of her good qualities are still being sung...

I wish the people entangled in fighting & creating tension for others get some inspiration from her! If we let the river of self-less services flow in our family & society, then the world would be so great!

If tomorrow came and I didn't have You

If tomorrow came and I didn't have You,
What could I say? What would I do?
My world would be ripped and torn apart
and I'd be struggling out in the dark.
I can't imagine my life without You and
the many blessings You drop off too!

A whisper in my ear
when I face a rough day and as You're
with me when I kneel and pray. The comfort
You give as I read Your word and sing Your
praises so they can be heard.

Lord, I don't want to face a tomorrow
without You. There would be no meaning
and I couldn't get through. You enrich
my life in everyway, grant salvation and
grace along the way. I don't want
a tomorrow without You and I'll keep
praying so I don't lose You.

But Baba My Saviour and Lord i know you are within me
My heart is your dwelling place
Everyday help me clean the seat of your throne
With in my heart so that you feel at ease within.
Let my heart be locked and let me lose the key so that i have you always with in me
Baba be always with me - rest in my heart
Let my heart recognise all hearts that have "you" within
As you rightly said you "I dwell in all inanimate and animate"

|| You Find What You Seek ||

Every second you spend thinking about what you don't want in your life is a second denying focus and energy from getting what you do want. Every minute you worry about what's not working is a minute drawn away from creating what will work. And every hour spent reflecting on the disappointments of the past is an hour stolen from seeing the possibilities that your future holds.

What ever we discovered in our own lives is that we see more of what we look for. Clarity precedes mastery (big idea there) and the more clearly we look for what we want, the more powerfully we generate that result in our own lives. By setting clear goals in the important areas, we see more of what we are searching for. By looking for the best in others, we generally find it. And by looking for the good things in our lives and expressing gratitude for our blessings (rather than thinking about any problems), we see more of what's good.

attitude of gratitude

Develop an attitude of gratitude and give thanks for everything that happens to you,

knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger

and better than your current situation.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How can you come to know yourself? Never by thinking,

always by doing. Try to do your duty,

and you'll know right away what you amount to.

The Self-Knowing people are both kind and indifferent towards all

*They appear to be making efforts like a materialistic person, but in reality they are in a state of supreme meditation.
*They take the world to be an illusion and know the Lord to be omni-present.

*The Self-Knowing persons know of the inaction inherent in an action.
*The company of such persons generates a pleasent soothing effect.
*No matter what they do, but all of them are always stationed in the form of the Real Self.

Human desire is illimitable and without end.

it makes you build castles in the air;

it breeds discontent and despair, once you succumb to it.

fear and fearlessness

The old religions said that he was an atheist who did not believe in GOD.......

The new religion says that he is the atheist who does not believe in HIMSELF....

Be not afraid of anything. You will do marvellous work .

The moment you fear, you are nobody.

It is fear that is the great cause of misery in the world.

It is fear that is the cause of all our woes ,

And it is fearlessness that brings heaven even in a moment......

Life and struggle

A man found a cocoon of an emperor moth. He took it home so that he could watch the moth come out of the cocoon. On the day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the moth for several hours as the moth struggled to force the body through that little hole.

The moth seemed to be stuck and appeared to have stopped making progress. It seemed as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther. The man, in his kindness, decided to help the moth; so he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The moth then emerged easily. But its body was swollen and small, its wings wrinkled and shriveled. The man continued to watch the moth because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to and able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the little moth spent the rest of its life crawling around with a small, swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly. The man in his kindness and haste did not understand that the struggle required for the moth to get through the tiny opening was necessary to force fluid from the body of the moth into its wings so that it would be ready for flight upon achieving its freedom from the cocoon. Freedom and flight would only come after the struggle. By depriving the moth of a struggle, he deprived the moth of health.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life.
If we were to go through our life without any obstacles, we would be crippled.
We would not be as strong as what we could have been.
Give every opportunity a chance, leave no room for regrets, and don't forget the power in the struggle.

An idle mind is devil's workshop

NEver sit idle when some fear arises in your heart. If you sit idle, you will start brooding over it.
That will only enhance the fear in your heart. The popular proverb - " An idle mind is devil's workshop" has great truth in it.

This proverb actually explains the state of our own mind!

So, when fear arises in you heart, don't sit idle. Get up at once and do one of the following...

1. Start reading words of strength and hope.

2. Take up some constructive and creative activity.

3. Go to some dependable elders you know and spend some time in their elevating presence.

4. Take deep breaths rhythmically and do some methodical exercises.

5. Pray intensely to GOD in whichever form you like.

If you want to achieve success in overcoming fear, there are certain rotten personal habits you must avoid at all costs...

1. Wandering about doing nothing

2. Losing yourself in idle gossip

3. Brooding over your weaknesses.

4. Postponing your duties.

5.Lingering in an undecided state of mind.

All of these exhaust the brain, weaken the mind, and drain all your energies, leaving the inner core of your personality greatly damaged.

So easy to beat yourself up over mistakes

So easy to beat yourself up over mistakes you've made. So many amongst us live in the past rather than loving the present and building a brilliant future. Some people stay stuck for years over something they did or a failure they've experienced. Sad. A life is a terrible thing to waste.

But let me ask you a question: "is there really such a thing as a mistake?" First of all, no one tries to fail or mess things up. Every one of us wakes up in the morning, walks out into the world and does the best we can do based on what we know and the skills we have. But even more importantly, every so-called "mistake' is actually a rich source of learning. An opportunity to build more awareness and understanding and gain precious experience. Experience that will help us do, feel and be even better. So, just maybe, there are no mistakes. Just maybe what we could call failures are actually growth lessons in wolf's clothing. And just maybe the person who experiences the most wins.

Kundaini - Breathing Therapy

The nose has a left and a right side; we use both to inhale and exhale.

Actually they are different; you would be able to feel the difference.
The right side represents the sun, left side represents the moon.
During a headache, try to close your right nose and use your left nose to breathe.

In about 5 mins, your headache will be gone? If you feel tired, just reverse, close your left nose and breathe through your right nose.
After a while, you will feel your mind is refreshed.

Right side belongs to 'hot', so it gets heated up easily, left side belongs to 'cold'.

Most females breathe with their left noses, so they get "cooled off" faster.

Most of the guys breathe with their right noses, they get worked up.

Do you notice the moment we wake up, which side breathes faster? Left or right? ?

If left is faster, you will feel tired.
So, close your left nose and use your right nose for breathing, you will get refreshed quickly.

This can be taught to kids, but it is more effective when practised by adults.

This alternative natural therapy without medication is something that he has experienced.

A rich man meets Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa

A rich man went to Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and said:
"I've heard that Godess Maha Kali herself comes to meet you." Shri Ramakrishna: "Yes, that is true."
"When does she come?" "That is not fixed.
Is there a particular time when the God & the saints pay a visit? They come at their own goodwill."
"I want that you should help me a little. Whenever the Godess Maha Kali comes at your place next time do send her to my house also."
This person appeared very clever to Shri Ramakrishna therefore He said:
"That's OK! But you give me your address."
The richman wrote his address on a piece of paper & gave it to Shri Ramakrishna.
Then Shri Ramakrishna said: "Is this your address?" "Yes Sir! This is definitely my address."
"No, this is the address of your body. I can send the Mother (Godess) only if you give me your address."
"My address! The rich person was bewildered." Shri Ramakrishna smiling said:
"How can a person invite the Mother (Godess) without knowing his own address?" The rich person stepped back silently & went away.

The Cracked Pot

There was a farmer who owned two pots which he used to fill with water every evening from the river side and bring back home for daily usage. However, one of the pots was slighty cracked due to which by the time the farmer used to reach home, half of the pot got emptied.

The pot always felt ashamed for its shortcoming and regretted why the farmer had not thrown him away. One fine day, the pot managed to ask whether the farmer has ever noticed that it is cracked and half of the water and his valuable energy gets wasted everyday.

The farmer took the pot on the way to riverside and told the pot-- see the flowerbed , i knew that you are cracked so I had sown the seeds which have turned into beautiful flowers because of the watering done by you.
